Improves Cognitive Function

Swimming from a young age has benefits that go beyond the pool and body muscles. Water stimulation plus new and different body movements than those from day-to-day activities help the brains process more complex information and improve spatial awareness abilities

Builds Healthy Muscle

For a baby, swimming is a great way to build the muscles needed for everyday life. It will help them develop core, arms and legs muscles needed to crawl and eventually walk. Besides, it is a low-impact exercise that will strengthen their joints and increase blood circulation.

In addition, guided water activities will also help improve a baby’s coordination and balance.

Improves Confidence

Besides attaining water confidence, registering your baby to Parent & Tot swim classes will also improve your child’s self-confidence and lay the groundwork for social skills and group relations.

During the class, babies will interact with each other, with the instructor and with their parent/caregiver while playing and singing, thus starting to grasp the basic function of social groups and social behaviour.

Reduces Risk of Drowning

According to WHO research, globally, the highest drowning rates are among children 1–4 years. Teaching your toddlers basic swim skills like floating and self-rescue could make a difference in a life-threatening situation. However, remember that kids around water (regardless of their age) should ALWAYS be supervised by an adult. This includes bathtubs and other small bodies of water.

Improves Sleep & Appetite

Even if thirty minutes of swim time doesn’t sound like a lot, we can assure you, for a baby that is A LOT of burned energy. A visit to the pool means they will be in constant movement at an unknown location, with all their focus on the new experience. To recover from all of this loss of energy, you will start to notice that after regular swimming lessons your baby will probably eat and sleep better. Which will most surely mean nap time after swim class or an early bedtime, and increased appetite.

Quality Time & Bonding

Being in the pool with your baby is a magical experience that allows you to focus on each other in a stress-free environment, it’s a great quality time that you will not find somewhere else. Parent & Tot swimming lessons will strengthen the bond between child and parent/guardian thanks to the trust they must put in each other and the skin-to-skin contact developed during the lesson.

Conclusion

Finding activities you can do with your baby is essential to their personal and social development, and also for your relationship. Participating in Parent & Tot swim lessons has incredible benefits, including improvement in cognitive skills, building healthy muscles, boosting confidence, reducing the risk of drowning, improving sleep and appetite, and giving you unique quality and bonding time.
