Breathing! Let me tell you why it’s very important and necessary.

Having a good breathing during swimming makes you feel comfortable and process enjoyable. When you are comfortable you will improve faster. Most of my students they stop exhaling when the  face is in water. I prefer all my students to start exhaling before going in until they come up nonstop. To connect with water or breathing practice for beginner level you can hold your kickboard, by keeping hands straight be in the water till your shoulder level try to move only your neck, nonstop exhaling before going in until you come up, making sure your mouth is completely out of water, Open your mouth for a second take a quick inhale and go back in with exhaling. you have to manage your breathing Sometimes you have to be inside for a  seconds sometimes you have to be inside for 10 seconds. The point is keep changing the timing to be in the water to not get a habit of being in the water for the same time. If you want to challenge yourself little more I suggest hold your keyboard practice the same process with slow walking. This way you are managing two things at one time.
