Side breathing or Bilateral breathing

Welcome to an amazing academy which is passionate and committed to the craft and love for coaching and the sport of swimming.
Breathing to the right and left side is called bilateral breathing (example: breathing every 3 or 5 strokes). Benefits of bilateral breathing include a more balanced stroke, helping you roll from side to side, and it gives you more time to exhale before your next breath.
Is bilateral breathing good?
Ultimately, breathing bilaterally enables you to better control your oxygen intake and helps you feel comfortable and process enjoyable . So when it comes to racing or race pace training, you will be able to handle oxygen shortage much better than by breathing every two strokes.
We are trying to foster growth in our athletes, whether technical, physiological, or personal, with what we say and how we say it.  We highlight choices and opportunities and invite them to challenge themselves with the opportunities we provide in hopes of helping them to become better swimmers and better people.
How do you side breathe?

For most athletes, breathing isn’t much of a concern. Swimming is one of the very few sports where breath control is a serious consideration—when to breathe, how often to breathe, what side to breathe, and so on.
At some point you’ve been told how important it is to swim freestyle breathing bilaterally. Here is how balancing out your breathing will help you become a faster swimmer.
